Bookmobile

Encourage Marion County youth to read with the Bookmobile! Organize, label and stock the Bookmobile with books. Deliver new (free) books to students at selected Title I schools.

When:

Promotion and Event Team

Help inform people about emergency preparation and response or American Red Cross programs and services. Volunteers should have a positive attitude, strong interpersonal communication skills and be able to relate well to people of all ages.

When:

Weekdays, weeknights or weekends

Where:

Throughout service area

Time:

Three to four hour shifts

First Aid Team

Provide basic first aid at Red Cross first aid stations during local events, such as Indianapolis Indians home games, 500 Festival events and the Indiana State Fair. Admission to events is free for volunteers.

When:

Weekdays, weeknights and weekends (January – August)

Indianapolis

Time:

Four to five hour shifts

Office Assistant

Support daily operations of the Red Cross. Assist with filing, photocopying and data entry. Basic computer skills needed.

When:

Weekdays from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m

Where:

Throughout service area

Time:

Three to four hour shifts

Transportation Dispatcher

Use a two-way radio to coordinate volunteer drivers as they transport clients to and from appointments. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills needed. Scheduling experience a plus.

Weekdays from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Four hour shifts

Transportation Driver

Transport people to and from vital medical appointments using Red Cross vehicles. Use a two-way radio to communicate with transportation dispatcher. Volunteer drivers must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid Indiana driver’s license and a good driving record.

Weekdays from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Six hour shifts

Where:

Noblesville, Greenfield, Martinsville, Frankfort

Time:

One to three hour shifts

Disaster Action Team

Provide comfort and care for people affected by fires, tornadoes and other local disasters by meeting basic emergency needs such as food, clothing and shelter.

When:

On-call rotations for weeknights (4:30 p.m. – 8 a.m.) and weekends (Friday, 4:30 p.m. – Monday, 8 a.m.)

Where:

Indianapolis, Noblesville, Greenfield, Franklin, New Castle, Frankfort, Boone, Morgan and Shelby counties

Time:

Time commitment varies according to response.
