Disaster Action Team

Provide comfort and care for people affected by fires, tornadoes and other local disasters by meeting basic emergency needs such as food, clothing and shelter.

When:

On-call rotations for weeknights (4:30 p.m. – 8 a.m.) and weekends (Friday, 4:30 p.m. – Monday, 8 a.m.)

Indianapolis

Time commitment varies according to response.

Disaster Relief Field Supply Center

Organize items, stock shelves and load and unload disaster relief supplies at the American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Field Supply Center. Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time and basic computer skills needed. Some heavy lifting required (minimum of 50 pounds).

When:

Weekdays

Where:

Indianapolis and Noblesville

Time:

Four hour shifts, twice monthly

Service to the Armed Forces Caseworker

Provide emergency communications between deployed service members and their families and assist with casework for people affected by disasters. Basic computer skills needed.

When:

Weekdays from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Where:

Indianapolis

Time:

Four hour shift

Mobile Feeding Response Team

Provide food and water to police and fire departments during an extended emergency response. Working with other volunteers, load the Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) with needed supplies, transport and serve beverages and snacks to emergency responders at the scene.

When:

On-call rotations for weeknights (4:30 p.m. – 8 a.m.) and weekends (Friday, 4:30 p.m. – Monday, 8 a.m.)
